What is Mental illness?
Mental illnesses are conditions that have an affect on a person’s thinking, feeling, mood or behavior. Some examples of mental illnesses include depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. Such conditions may be occasional or long-lasting and affect someone’s ability to relate to others and function each day. Aditonally, mental health illnesses can also affect your ability to get through day-to-day life. They are ususally a result of poor daily habits.

- around one in five young people ages 13 to 18 experience a mental illness at some point in their lives, too.
- About one in 25 adults experience a serious mental illness (SMI) each year.
- According to the National Institute of Mental Health, women are more likely to experience SMI than men.
